ABOUT

The Wild Magic Journal

The Wild Magic Journal is a collection of entries meant for enhancing the tabletop RPG experience by mixing in real life scientific elements with preexisting lore. This journal is not an official encyclopedia and holds no affiliation with any game company. It's literally just one girl and her ramblings.

That being said, the Wild Magic Journal is meant to give inspiration to players and world-builders alike. By using real life science and making educated guesses, the journal can help draw fairly logical conclusions about fantasy wildlife. Feel free to use just a grain of salt, or the entire shaker; use it in campaigns, as inspiration for something new, or even to answer your own questions about fantasy wildlife.

Also, perhaps in another lifetime, the voice behind Chelle Sypha would be an actual biologist. In this lifetime, however, she is not. That doesn't prevent her from citing her sources, though.

Chelle Sypha

Young Chelle had an unusual knack for wanting to mix things. She grew up brewing makeshift potions in her backyard with mud and seawater, stirring everything together with sticks and storing them in empty cosmetic jars. Though one day, to her elation, her concoction of snips and snails actually produces a faint puff of something…vile. But Chelle was far from discouraged.

With her newfound talent for alchemy, she sought out to enroll in the Inokea Medical Society when she was of age. Until then, she garnered a fascination for sea life, specifically creatures that could naturally produce chemicals. Jellyfish caught her eye, and with her passion for mixing things, she completed her greatest combination: herself and a jellyfish.

Chelle’s time in the Inokea Medical Society didn’t last long, as the other members were unnerved by her new appearance and fascination with dissection. Though she claims she’s invested in medical research for the greater good, it’s hard to convince a board of scholars with a jellyfish on your head. Now armed with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, and a journal full of research notes, Chelle has dedicated her time to sharing her weird fascinations with an audience who is eager to read it.
